THE SPREAD

The first week is always tough, you never know how a team will start the season. Preseason is really no indicator.

The Spread has 3 picks for you to start your season off.
1st off The Bengals -3 over the Broncos. This isn't really about me thinking the Bengals are anything special, but more about the Broncos being just plain bad. Its going to be a long season for Kyle and the Broncos. Take the Bengals - 3
Bengals 17 Broncos 6

Tom Brady and the Patriots are back, look for them to want to show off in front of the home crowd and spank the Bills on Monday Night Football. Patriots -10.
Patriots 35 Bills 10

Upset special. The 49ers over the Cardinals. The NFC champion Cardinals, got hot at the right time last year, and I know they still have a great arsenal of recievers. But Warner is a year older, and they weren't a very impressive team early in the year last year. I look for the young niners to come out and try and prove something right away 49ers +6
Cardinals 24 49ers 23

The lines are from Bodog and will vary.
Post your picks!

Caps tourney

There have been a few comments on facebook about organizing a caps tourament. Let me know if you are interested. Denise and I would gladly host. Spread the word.

New Bluejay

Phil Maniscalo, son of Phil and Denise Maniscalo 88 is attending Elmhurst college.
He had his first football game this weekend. The Bluejays beat the Benedictine Eagles 24-14
It was a game that could have easily been a route but a lot of key Bluejay penalties helped keep it close.
The JV team shut out Benedictine 14-0. Phil had a few passed thrown to him, unfortunately, though he had several steps on his defender on a fade route, the passes were well under thrown.

Looking forward to having many tailgates before the home games this year, please come out and have some fun.
Check the Elmhurst footballs site for schedule http://athletics.elmhurst.edu/mfootball

next up Olivet Nazerene, at home.

Chicago baseball

I know Sox fans think there might be hope, but look at reality. Chicago baseball put a fork in it!
Its over both teams are dead. I will give the Sox credit for fighting longer, but they are done too.
